OER Project: Islamic Scholar Series

The OER project just published a terrific lesson about Islamic scholars. 

The project includes short readings about Muslim scholars who contributed to our understanding of science and math.

The scholars include Ibn al-Haytham, who pointed out some problems with Ptomely's ideas of how the planets fit together; Jābir ibn Ḥayyān, who wrote scores of texts about alchemy; Hasan Ibn al-Haytham, who wrote about how the human eye sees, Ahmad Ibn Majid, who helped develop the astrolabe; and Muhammad Ibn Musa al-Khwarizm, who revolutionized algebra and math.
